Marriage Booklist

This week I read The Marriage Mentor and let me tell you, it was AWESOME. I heard it mentioned on a recent podcast on marriage and the next week I pulled it out of my amazon delivery box ;) I just love reading about marriage. Especially since my husband films weddings and I teach Natural Family Planning, we are often talking about these dynamics in married couples! I’m also constantly trying to up my wife game (which believe me needs upping!) and learn from those with experience. Gosh, it’s such a battle, but a battle worth fighting (& reading for ;) I promise you won’t regret reading any one of these and re-visiting some of the things that are most important you. Pick one you haven’t read & add it to your cart right now ;) Here is my favorite list to choose from, enjoy!!!

  1. The Marriage Mentor: Becoming the Couple You Long to Be by Steve and Rhonda Stoppe

  2. Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

  3. The Temperament God Gave Your Spouse by Art & Laraine Bennett

  4. The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman

  5. Men, Women and the Mystery of Love by Edward Sri

  6. The Four Keys to Everlasting Love by Karee & Manuel Santos

  7. Good News about Sex and Marriage by Christopher West

  8. Holy Sex: A Catholic Guide to Toe-Curling, Mind Blowing, Infallible Loving by Gregory Popcak

They may surprise you with simple reminders of making a good marriage, such as - working on yourself and doing what gives you joy, smiling at your spouse, respecting him, spending time with him, praying for him, and cultivating gratitude in all things. (Of course I threw in a few understanding sexuality ones ;) But sometimes simply re-reading the basics, or diving into the theological background is what we need. Also, hearing other’s struggles and success stories is completely inspiring! Just try one of them & let me know how it goes :)

Also, let me know what awesome marriage books I should read next!! Prayers for all married women out there & my very best wishes <3

In Joy,

Alex
