Personal Invitation

Yesterday on social media, I posted about my struggle with balancing motherhood and career in this stage of my life, and not surprisingly received an overwhelming response in solidarity. Another validation that the devil is working overtime to tempt us in solitude, strip us of our feminine genius, our privilege of being a woman (amazing read!) and sow lies of doubt, jealousy, and competition between our sex.

Surround Yourself

My joy does not come from myself. Left on my own, my selfish desires easily take over, I become weak to the temptation of sin, sucked into worldly concerns, and prideful of my own doing…certainly nothing to brag about! I know God does not mean for us to fight for the victory of heaven alone...

Not What I Expected

I believe Shakespeare got it right when he warned, “Expectation is the root of all heartache.” At least half right. I have been thinking a lot about expectations ever since my last rosary group meeting posed the intriguing question, “Does your life look different than you expected? How have your priorities changed as your faith increased?” It struck a cord in my heart.

Extraverts Need Introvert Friends

I am 99.9% extraverted. My overt extraverted nature is energized by people. What Brings you Joy

In all honesty, “choosing” joy is not an easy thing. At least, not amidst those times of struggle, doubt, and despair when we really need it the most. You know those times when the best antidote becomes the hardest.  Like when I’m tired and cranky, choosing to embrace the defined “feeling of great pleasure and happiness,” or “to rejoice,” feels out of the question.  But like anything worth fighting for, I have found this spirit of joy something highly worth my time and effort to continually pursue…

Dear Husband

In the midst of my emotional, hormonal, 3rd trimester craziness, I am once again in awe of the endless love my husband gives me. He truly is the face of Christ. Yet, I continue to disappoint myself in the selfish ways I neglect to love him in return. I wish I could rewind my less than loving acts, and be the joyful wife he deserves. Well, I can’t change the past, but I can learn from it, and resolve to do better…

When I Pray

I fail. I’m distracted. I’m antsy. I check the clock, or, let’s be honest, the time on my smartphone. I’m tempted to rush through the scripture reading. I’m tempted to do all of the talking. I’m tempted to recite the words just to cross them off my list. Because, I tell myself, I’m busy…

Know Yourself

My family & friends are well aware of my personality typing obsession. My journey began a few years ago as I spoke with a priest friend about my doubts and insecurities.
